World Water Day is an annual event celebrated on March 22nd, aimed at raising awareness about the importance of freshwater and advocating for sustainable management of water resources. The day was first proposed in 1992 at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) and has been observed since 1993. Each year, the day focuses on a particular theme related to water, such as water scarcity, water and climate change, water and sanitation, or water and food security. The theme for World Water Day 2023 is "Water and Ecosystems".
